Director: Ellen Hume. Ellen Hume is a former White House reporter for the Wall Street Journal, former executive director of the Shorenstein Center on Press, Politics and Public Policy at Harvard, and former director of PBS’s Democracy Project. Starting in 2003, she began teaching at UMB in media and communication studies. She has an extensive background in journalism at the local, national and international levels, as well as a 15-year career in teaching and media analysis. Hume, an experienced national television commentator, appears frequently as a media analyst and trains journalists in American and foreign newsrooms for the Committee of Concerned Journalists and the U.S. Department of State. Hiteshkumar M. Hathi has an AM in Sanskrit from Harvard University where he has taught seminars and tutorials in South Asian literature, history, and culture. He was a producer for The Connection, a nationally syndicated call-in and talk program on NPR. As Senior Producer at the MBE Library in Boston, he developed and produced a series aired on C-Span TV as well as a series of original plays for family audiences. At the Center on Media and Society, Hitesh is helping research and develop a comprehensive ethnic and community journalism program for Boston and the New England region. Hitesh is also a writer and commentator whose work has been featured in The Boston Globe and on WGBH Radio's Morning Edition and The World.
